RESPECT
Made some new friends 🙏🏼
Like a great sunrise, the day began with OZD 9 & Unders looking pretty impressive as they took home two firsts & two second places!
With only seven OZD divers in four age groups, OZD captured nine first and three second places.
Continuing his quest with big dives, Matt showed great spunk capturing 3 1sts out of 4 events! Lilly continues to impress & progress with 2 gold medals! And Aubrie was close on her heels with double-silver! Not too shabby! Our Novice Nick had an awesome debut garnering two golds!
Our sole 16-18 entry Eliza took home double-golds & put on a demonstration of how and why divers should always learn how ’compete’ against themselves! Solid list!
A hearty ‘way to go ‘to all parents & lesson volunteers - Sage & Saylor!
Despite the heat, we are Grateful the thunder & lightning held off!
Can’t say enough about the coaches & judges…, so we won’t 😎😉😊
Our last event was 14-18 Girls 1 meter & Mixed Gender Synchro:
Successful & fun way to finish the day! congratulations to all divers & teams! A special hearty congrats to Benjamin Smit of Indian River Diving who won his 1 meter event & competed in his last meet with us! We wish Best of luck in all future endeavors Ben! Onward & Upward!
2023 USA DIVING ZONE B - Elle wowed the crowd with this ‘Stunnah” in her last big meet for Osprey ZAP Diving - OZD is so proud of our only 2023 qualifier! Her leadership & positive personality will be sadly missed as she moves on to shine at Davidson College in the Fall! Love ya Elle!
As a team we did great. We weren’t perfect, but overall team performance at this meet improved from last time! Progress not perfection is still our philosophy!
Capturing seven golds ’ain’t too shabby’! OZD out-performed all other South Florida teams to win their 1st Championship ever! And we can hold our heads high.

The Littles remain remarkable in their development! and definitely add an air of fun to meets!
Lilly won her 1 meter event and helps to show that despite anxiety & nervousness, it can be used to elevate performance; how hard work pays!

OZD TEAM WON. WE CAN BE PROUD! Those of you who won your event, seized the day and individually you can call yourselves Southern Florida CHAMPIONS! Conduct yourself with pride-not arrogance. MEET REPORT & ASSESSMENT
Orlando April 14-16 - OZD had five of our nine divers qualify for the next level -AAU East Nationals.
A heart congrats to our Littles - Kinley & Eliana - for performing well enough to brag about qualifying for a National Championship - A great opportunity & experience, and a good feather in their cap. Making memories.
Sadie, Elle & Matt all qualified and admittedly did not have their best meets!
But can be proud of being good enough to advance to the next level!
COACH NOTES:
MOVING UP IN AGE GROUP-VERY HELPFUL TIPS-MEET MODE-RESPECT
The first year in the next level-agegroup is always tough.....and honestly, the weather, lack of good practices, injuries & health took its tool on all of us so far this season.
HELPFUL TIPS:
We need to consult more before or after each dive with coach at meets;, Buzzwords/POT and establishing a good meet mode & mindset is so important!
Please look for coach and use him, don't abuse him....Always say goodbye and thank your coach and Meet Director when possible.
That said, there were some positive notable performances.

Onward & Upward OZD
How fitting that hard-working and elegant diver Elle Jacobsen should finish her high school career as the Champion! In amazing fashion, Elle Jacobsen - Senior at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy won the 2022 Girls 1A Diving. No one is better! 👌👏🏼
Against 24 other talented divers, Elle pulled away with her signature triple twister…, and won going away, with a great score of 466.10. Over 50 points for her 5126D alone!!!
Elle’s performance garnered her the honor of being considered as a High School All American!
Placement at States-score-competitors-and mostly ‘quality of dives’ will be reviewed & when voting process completed, its possible to see Elle as one of the top 100 divers in our 50 States! We are sooooo proud of you Elle!!!
Elle was overjoyed with gratitude and her performance was strengthended by the awesome support of her OZD teammates. Way to go team!

Such a gratifying meet in so many ways;
Everyone can be proud of what they did at this competitive USA Regional Meet.
While we weren't perfect on every dive, we showed more progress than flaws!!
In the most competitive 14 - 18 age group events, we did what we had to do. Matt, Elle, Eliza, Sadie, Lilly all competed at least one new dive - All new for Sadie-who showed tru grit getting back up from a hard 5134D smack on 3 meter! Our solo 12-13 Girl- Aubrie, garnered OZD the most points by performing her high DD dives with consistent progress by getting two 3rd places! Taelynn was unphased and looked very confident and gained valuable experience.
MEMORIES
LILLY making ZONES on both board!!
SADIE too...and getting back up after a pretty hilarious smack. (she didn't think so at the time;)
ELIZA & SADIE & ELLE shaking in their boots about a stinking, 203B from 3 meter..., and then nailing their high dd twisters & making Zones on both boards!! Unusual nerves from all! AUBRIE worrying and then nailing her worrisome dives! Elles 105 on 1 meter; Eliza's 405 on 3 meter; Lilly's 5231 on both. boards. Matts 5124 & 5134D.Aubrie's 105B both boards! Sadie's twisters. CYA IN Coral Springs!
FIRST-YEAR DIVERS - Memories of our ‘’Little’s’ & first-year divers Sophia, Jackie, Aubrie, Lilly & Maggie all shone brightly in their first-ever Nationals competition.
SOPHIA SAPIENZA 10 yr old - -’Sofa’ improved her back twister and put it all together to final on both boards. She took home hardware for two third places! 1 meter-125.00 3 meter-116.65
JACKIE UNGER - 9 & Under - basically learned all new dives to compete in this meet. She finaled on both boards! 1 meter-9th-69.35 3 meter-4th-68.00
AUBRIE DURHAM - 12 - placed 4th on 1 meter - 202.20 pts & 5th on 3 meter-221.25. Her amazing progress on harder degree of difficulty dives has put her in a great place for the future.
LILLY SLINGSBY- 13 - In the age group in which 3-4 year divers begin to blossom, 1st year diver Lilly not only held her own but did her newer dives, especially her double, with the confidence of a veteran diver! Nailing her double in a big meet made it all the sweeter! 🙏🏼⚡️
Our older divers held their own in the very competitive older age groups! 15 year old MAGGIE UNGER will remember competing her first 403C in her her first AAU Nationals. 16 year old ELLE JACOBSEN, receiving thunderous applause & cheers for her triple twister.., is now a legend in diving circles! And of course, a great memory by our star 🌟 OZD veteran (3 years) ELIZA HICKS-14: 3rd on 1 meter-280.65 & 7th on 3 meter-272.85.
In her final meet with Osprey ZAP, 18 yr old Trinity McNall, put in her most solid & consistent big-dive performance evaaah! ❤️In what is the most competitive age group, she was just edged out of finals on 1 meter by .05 of a point 😳hey, it happens! But in dramatic fashion Trin saved her best for last and captured 8th place on 3 meter! 👏🏼👏🏼 A most memorable performance of grit .., and the ability to have a short memory, overcome disappointment, and get on with the task at hand!
This was the last month of representing K2 Diving for young MATT PETTIT.
We have welcomed Matt off & on for a few months now.., and after USA Jrs he will be officially a ZAPPER! He had great performances on 1 meter placing 2nd, 3 meter placing 3rd & tower placing 7th! Yaaaay Matt! Welcome!

OZD Rocks! We really rocked these AAU Nationals! Couldn’t have done it without you! Each & everyone one of you was important in making this one of the most memorable meets of all time! 👍🏻⚡️Each of you had your individual challenges and you met them head on! Your hard work at practice showed and I couldn’t be prouder! 🙏🏼😎🌟 Be proud of yourselves! We can all take a well deserved, bow! 😎👏🏼👏🏼
Onward & Upward - OZD Rocks!
Trinity McNall - Saves her Best for Last -
It was an emotional, storybook-ending for Trin’s OZD career. After barely missing 1 meter finals (.05 of a point) & in the most competitive age group at Nationals (16-18 Girls), Trinity put in her best 3 meter optional performance evah! What a show! Take a bow!
OZD's 1st AAU East Nationals Champion
9 & Under Grace Erickson - Port St Lucie.
Amazing Grace has. another year in her age bracket.
OZD's most experienced entry, 14-15 age group -Eliza, from Palm Bay, showed her consistency, cool, and great diving-lines to all judges & people in attendance.
Our 10-11 entry, Sophia-from Vero Beach, put on an impressive display of 1st year diving & greatly improved her back dive kick-outs on both boards!
Another 1st-year diver, Aubrie, is swiftly making a name for herself in diving circles.
With another year in 12-13 age group, she is a rising star!
Between them, Grace & Elle do not even have two years with OZD but their improvement are duly noted and both will be working new dives & consistency.
8 DIVERS - 6 USAD ZONE-QUALIFIERS
OZD QUALIFIED IN ALL AGE GROUPS
Coral Springs Aquatic Complex - April 30 - May 2 2021
16-18 - TRINITY & TYLER (1st -ever Regional)
14-15 - ELIZA (1st-ever Regional)
12-13 - LILLY & AUBRIE (1st-ever Regional) - MATTHEW (unofficial OZD Diver)
11 & Under - Sophia (1st-ever Regional)
A better script could not have been written for the last event for OZD at the 2021 USA Diving Region #3 Meet! With all our younger divers qualifying for the next big meet - USAD Zones - we were hoping , praying, & PEBBING that we would have a 16-18 diver qualify! 16-18 age groups are the toughest and most-competitive events. And a tough battle for the top 15 places was brewing!
16-18
Undaunted, 1st-time Tyler cruised confidently and consistently on 1 meter, showing his strength, poise and vastly improved mechanics…thus earning him a Zone trip! CONSISTENCY & MIND POWER - WTD
Trinity, seemingly down & out in rounds 7 & 8, channeled her ‘inner ‘Rocky’ and shredded her last two dives to earn her spot to Zones! DIVE AT A TIME - TENACITY - MENTAL TOUGHNESS - WTD
Elle & Grace held their own and did not disappoint! Improvements over the last few months for both were evident. They did not majorly miss anything and valiantly made every new dive. And not making excuses, but facing facts: For Elle, nearly everything is new on 3 meter…and Grace is basically a first-year diver going against older divers with sometimes 8-10 years of experience! We dive against ourselves. Job well done. EXPERIENCE - NO QUIT - IMPROVEMENT - WTD
14-15 (Qualified both boards)
Eliza - our only 14-15 entry - was outstanding qualifying both boards. Her 3 years of experience and progress was on full display! She put on a show and definitely showed how hard work at practice pays off! She is a ‘Steady Eddie’. CONSISTENCY - MENTAL TOUGHNESS - WTD
11 & Under - 12-13 (Qualified both boards)
Sophia - 11 & Under, learned so much in the last two months and was a super star! Her rise has been meteoric…and showed she compete pretty comfortably. On to Zones!
Lilly & Aubrie - our 12-13 divers- were like seasoned competitors - They did not show their anxiety in their dives! They performed steady….and I would say - they had fun!
Matthew - Showed unbelievable toughness after a hard smack on tower - got back up and rocked it!
Qualified in 3 events! LEARNING EXPERIENCE - NEW FRIENDS - BALANCED - WTD
Your coach thinks, Our “Guide me in Word, Thought & Deed’ method of helping our visualizing process, worked once again. All divers dove like they have in practice and in some cases, better! Our TEAM SUPPORT was exceptional by divers and parents alike…. This was a most fun experience for your coach and I think for all! GRATEFUL! No one will outwork us! Take a bow OZD!
