OZD Novices - Grace the Brave & Autumn the Courageous

Autumn Walker took home a gold & silver...and she displayed her grit as well by learning & putting in her 101C-forward dive tuck on 3 meter earning her a gold medal!!!

Special Recognition & Remarks

So proud of our OZD divers for the way they welcomed and took in South Carolina Diver 10-11 yr Autumn Lawrence.  Autumn actually learned a new dive at the meet and won her 3 meter novice event.  I witnessed lots of diver support, especially for and toward Grace and our SC Diver. Nice to see! Leah took a great pic of Grace & Eliza giving PEBS (heart fingers) to Autumn. She & her family were very grateful.

We also welcomed in the Smit brothers this week in exchange for some additional help, great announcing and great banana bread-yup Im easy! . :):)

So proud of our group.  No job is less important than the other. It really does take a group effort.  We were on schedule and nearly flawless. (I forgot water for the table & judges-I had some in the car ;) You all 'did your job'  Thanks.  Onward & Upward

Look around you - Lots to be grateful for

Happy Thanksgiving

Six year-old novice Grace ERICKSON, in her first meet ever, placed 2nd with a spectacular performance which included three 7's for her new back dive lineup. Wellington Competition Highlights

Wellington Invitational - Plantation Aquatic Complex

February 2, 2019

Osprey ZAP Diving came up big at their 3rd AAU diving competition ever.

With only three divers, competing in six events, OZD took home  4 gold medals, 1 silver & 1bronze medal.  There wer a total of 39 events - JO age group & Novice (see below) - 9 teams - 76 divers

Enroute they had two AAU National qualifying performances:

LILLIAN ALTMANN - West Shore Jr & Sr High School 8th grader, captured the 14-15 1 meter (score 262.25) and 3 meter (score 244.00) events, along the way putting in a AAU Nationals qualifying performance on 1 meter.

. "Lillian is a competitor with prior gymnastics experience" according to OZD Coach Jim Kelly. "In only her 2nd AAU meet ever, she was not far off for qualifying on both boards,. She is already at a level where she is competitive with the best in her 14-15 age division. She is a great twister', Kelly added.

ELIZA HICKS - Future West Shore Jr & Sr High School diver, took a strong 2nd second place & qualified for AAU Nationals with her great 1 meter performance and score of 206.10.  According to Kelly, "Her 3 meter performance was great also, but the qualifying score is a bit higher than 1 meter, and consistency will come with more experience.  Eliza is quickly gaining on the more experienced divers in her 12-13 age group. And qualifying in only her 3rd meet ever 'ain't to shabby" She will be a great addition to West Shore Jr & Sr High School next season", he added.

BROOKE STILLWAGGON - In her first-ever diving competition, Brooke captured two first places (1 & 3 meter boards) in the novice division.  "Brooke is the newest of the group and has come along nicely," according to Kelly.  "She comes from skating background and displays lots of strength for a newbie.  Novices are the less-experienced divers, but with her continuing-progress, Brooke should be diving in the Jr. Olympic category by our next meet." Brooke is a 5th grader at North County Charter Elementary, Vero Beach, Fl.

YCF CHRISTMAS MEET REPORT & HIGHLIGHTS

DECEMBER 1-2, ORLANDO, FL

Only four OZ Divers competed  in Junior Olympic events to see how close we could come to qualifying for AAU Nationals in a bonafide big competition.

OZD finished 15th out of 19 teams competing. Not surpising & not bad with only four divers...against teams with over 20-30 divers. ;)

The idea was to gain meet experience and see what dives your age group divers are performing.. While everyone focuses on 'where you placed', it's best to focus on "how you performed'; were you better or worse than in practice; If worse, we figure out why (mental?)  and work on it; if better, maybe you're not trying hard enough in practice.  ;0.)  Except for a few dives, you dove like you have been diving in practice; you all seemed to come back after a miss; Individual performance highlights are below!  General assessment: Much learned -experienced gained - but more work on the meet process needed: e.g. confer with coach before & after dives; prepping before dives; being mentally & physically ready for your dive. With less than four months as a team, we have arrived, we are being noticed and we are ready to rock!  Very proud!

Onward & Upward - Progress not Perfection

POST SCRIPT - Thanks to all parents & divers for handling the event change with restraint & class. As much as an inconvenience as it was, we all were inconvenienced. We will see these coaches, table workers, parents, & divers at many meets...and we all need to empathize and cooperate with each other with running meets.

You will be running them at some point. :0)

"Expect the unexpected, feel & deal, and be part of the solution," helps best! Things happen! Thanks for your support.

Site Content

Additional Information

This is a long form text area designed for your content that you can fill up with as many words as your heart desires. You can write articles, long mission statements, company policies, executive profiles, company awards/distinctions, office locations, shareholder reports, whitepapers, media mentions and other pieces of content that don’t fit into a shorter, more succinct space.

Articles – Good topics for articles include anything related to your company – recent changes to operations, the latest company softball game – or the industry you’re in. General business trends (think national and even international) are great article fodder, too.

Mission statements – You can tell a lot about a company by its mission statement. Don’t have one? Now might be a good time to create one and post it here. A good mission statement tells you what drives a company to do what it does.

Company policies – Are there company policies that are particularly important to your business? Perhaps your unlimited paternity/maternity leave policy has endeared you to employees across the company. This is a good place to talk about that.

Executive profiles – A company is only as strong as its executive leadership. This is a good place to show off who’s occupying the corner offices. Write a nice bio about each executive that includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are.
